JOB TITLE: RADIO HOST
JOB DESCRIPTION: WDLR-Delaware, Ohio is seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic, and knowledgeable Radio Host to lead our Harness Racing Show. The ideal candidate will have a passion for harness racing, a strong ability to engage with listeners, and a captivating voice that keeps audiences tuned in. The host will be responsible for soliciting and conducting interviews, delivering insightful commentary, and keeping the show energetic and entertaining.
SHOW: The show is a half-hour weekly show that highlights the equine industry in Ohio, specifically harness racing.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Solicit interviews of persons and entities that are affiliated with the harness racing industry, primarily in Ohio, but can also be national on occasion.
* Schedule, and conduct interviews. Record them and edit them for air. Training will be provided on editing software.
* Host must conduct a minimum of one interview per week. The number of interviews conducted each week will be determined by the format of the show.
* Engage listeners with lively and informative discussions about upcoming races, horses, drivers, trainers, and industry news.
* Conduct interviews with drivers, trainers, owners, and experts to provide insider perspectives on races and industry trends.
* Coordinate with producers and technical staff to ensure smooth show operations, including segment transitions, sound quality, and broadcast schedules.
* Stay updated on the latest news and developments in the harness racing world to deliver timely and relevant content.
* Promote upcoming races, special events, and sponsorships on-air.
* Host will need reliable transportation and be willing to drive (where applicable) to guest’s locations to conduct interviews.
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Knowledge of harness racing, including horses, drivers, racing strategy, and industry
trends.
* Previous experience in radio hosting, broadcasting, or similar roles is preferred.
* Excellent communication skills, with a clear and engaging voice for radio broadcasting.
* Comfortable conducting live interviews and managing audience interactions.
PREFERRED:
* Background in radio, TV, or print media.
* Familiarity with audio production equipment and software.
